An Abstract Life
It’s January: we’ve just Googled the word mizzle, there are only the coconut ones left in the Quality Street tin and the Christmas tree only has three needles left. Stop doom scrolling through pictures of people out jogging at 4am and treat your eyes to some joy giving, serotonin boosting zany abstracts from our collection. This selection is like a Quality Street tin full of green triangles and the big purple ones, joyous! Get stuck in!
We love an abstract with a descriptive title! This piece, titled “Osiris and the Jackal-Headed Anubis,” leads the brain down a path of hieroglyphs and ancient Egyptian Gods in a vivid 20th Century romp!
One of our favourite things about a successful abstract piece, is the visceral energy they exude. This gouache piece is a perfect example of that, with the lines full of impulse and the colours lead by intuition. A crisp mount and simple black frame only adds to the wild abandon of the artwork.

The artist Kanwaldeep Singh Kang shows a real playfulness in their work with great texture, line and colour in this piece. It’s a great, hangable size and the palette is eye catching, yet not overpowering, making it the perfect piece to fit in with almost any interior scheme.
We reckon this one would make an amazing wallpaper…or blanket…or curtain. Basically, we love it!
Peter Frederick Briscoe Snow - 20th Century Watercolour, Coral Reef
This is a great example from our little collection of Modern Newlyn School abstracts. Lots of carefree colour and naive nautical forms add joy to this harbour scene.
As this lithograph comes unframed, it has so much potential. It is double sided with glorious abstract imagery on both sides. We think it looks like a mock up for a contemporary stained glass window.
A colourful update on one of Albert Gelizes’ Cubist works, this painting packs a punch. One of the founders of Cubism, Gleizes knew a thing or two about colour and form. This piece is an excellent homage to the incredible artist.

This is a just a bit of good, old fashioned silliness. “Big Head, Tiny Face” is just that, a big abstracted head with a tiny, silly face! It’s certainly got us smiling despite the drizzle outside.
This knock out combines elements of Matisse, contemporary print making techniques and the humble house plant to create a raucous, botanical feast for the eyes.

Bronte Woodruff - Framed Contemporary Acrylic, Gestures In Red And Blue
These round little birds are bringing us a lot of joy, especially as they are sitting on swathes of primary hues, giving us a childlike feeling of fun. This would be utterly charming in a children’s bedroom or play room.
That bold strip of red really gives this piece some oomph! Neatly framed and ready to hang and under £100, this one is a real steal.
